Upcoming Events

We hold many events throughout the year and you can always find those on our Church Center calendar. Here are a few of our upcoming events!

Get Ready for Summer at The Journey!

Summer is here, and we have an exciting lineup of events planned for all ages. Be sure to mark your calendars and save the dates—we’ll be sharing more details about each event in the weeks ahead. We can’t wait to make memories, build community, and enjoy a fun-filled summer together!

Leveraging Privilege for Justice: Summer Book Discussion

This summer, join us for a five-week Zoom book study exploring Subversive Witness: Scripture’s Call to Leverage Privilege by Dominique DuBois Gilliard.

Led by Elizabeth Givler, Justice Ministry Co-Leader, this study invites us into thoughtful conversation about how Scripture calls us to examine privilege, pursue justice, and embody faithful witness in our communities today.

Together, we’ll reflect on Scripture, history, and practical discipleship as we consider what it means to follow Jesus with integrity in a complex world.

Meeting Dates (Sundays at 6 PM on Zoom):
June 28, July 12, July 26, August 9, August 23.

Who Should Join: This study is open to anyone interested in faith and justice, biblical engagement with power and privilege, meaningful discussion, and growing in discipleship and action.

If cost or access to the book is a barrier, please reach out confidentially—support is available.

We hope you’ll join us for this important and enriching conversation this summer.

Summer Bible Study: Everyday Heroes

Find the Bible overwhelming, intimidating, or hard to figure out? You’re not alone.

Whether you’re just beginning to explore Scripture or you’ve been reading it for years, this five-week Bible study is designed to help you engage the Bible in a fresh, approachable way.

Join Steve Holubec as we explore Everyday Heroes— a closer look at how God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Using the book God’s Stories As Told By God’s Children (by the same author of The Bible for Normal People), we’ll discover that the Bible isn’t just a collection of stories for biblical scholars—it’s God’s story, and it’s a story that continues to shape our lives today.

Together, we’ll ask questions, grow in our understanding of Scripture, and discover that God often works through ordinary people, just like us.

When: Sundays, July 12, 19, 26, August 2 & 9
Time: 6:30–8 PM
Location: The Gathering Place at The Journey

(The study meets at the same time as Journey Youth, making it a great opportunity for parents to participate while their students are at youth group.)

If you’d like to purchase the book in advance, you can order it using this link. If obtaining a copy would be a financial hardship, please let us know—we’d be happy to help.
