Lead Pastor
Kris was born and raised in Selinsgrove, PA, graduated from high school in Selinsgrove, and grew up attending a local United Methodist Church. Even though his biological family did not have a faith orientation, this church nurtured and cared for him as a young child, forming in him a deep love of God and people, and propelled Kris to be the person he is today. He has three sisters, three nephews, and seven nieces who all live in the Philadelphia area.
Kris received a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical and Religious Studies from Messiah University, and a Master of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.
Outside of ministry, Kris is a proud husband to Hannah and father to Lydia. He loves to travel and explore new places in the United States and around the world. If he’s not traveling, Kris enjoys reading at local coffee shops, kayaking, enjoying craft beer, and spending time with his friends and family.
Kris is the lead pastor of The Journey Church, and remains humbled and grateful to be leading this diverse, inclusive, and Jesus-centered community that is intentional about creating space for all people to experience Jesus’ liberative spirit. The Journey celebrates both its ability to connect with young adults (approximately 65% of the church is under the age of 40) and its diversity (55% identify as white and 45% identify as a person of color). We believe that through the empowerment and love of the Holy Spirit, we can make a space where all are welcome, address difficult topics in love, acknowledge our differences, and find deep belonging.
Kris serves as the primary communicator, leads our staff, serves as part of our Leadership Team in casting our vision and direction, offers pastoral care and support of our faith community, and serves as our chief encourager. Kris’ favorite part is collaborating with the incredibly talented and passionate team, leaders, and entire church in living out a community of belonging, justice, and love rooted in Jesus.
